CULTURAL RESOURCE FIELD DIRECTOR/CREW CHIEF OPENING

Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd., an environmental planning firm in Tempe, AZ (ACS) is seeking to hire a Field Director or Crew Chief with Arizona experience initially for temporary project-specific work, which could lead to a staff position with benefits. To be considered the candidate will:

have a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology (Archaeology);
have a valid driver’s license; and
have a minimum of two years experience leading monitoring, survey, and excavation projects in Arizona and writing the reports for them.

Candidates desiring to move into a full-time regular staff position should also:

have a Masters degree in Anthropology (Archaeology) and
qualify to be listed on an Arizona state permit.
The duties of this position regularly require in-town or out-of-town fieldwork, which would involve standing, walking or climbing into and out of trenches and excavation units, using hands to manipulate items and to lift or carry them, talking, and hearing. They occasionally require crossing uneven terrain, climbing over fences, and stooping, kneeling, or crouching, as well as sitting at a desk and using hands to manipulate a computer keyboard and mouse, and paper work products. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. All employees must follow established procedures, ask questions when needed, work independently once parameters have been set, and work cooperatively as part of a team, at both the project and company-wide levels.

The pay level is competitive and commensurate with experience. Temporary employees receive holiday pay when the office is closed on one of their regular workdays and they have worked the day before and the day after the holiday.
